Best Spring Proposal Spots in NYC

(Cherry Blossoms & Romantic Locations)

Spring in New York City is something truly special. After months of cold weather, the city suddenly comes alive again — cherry blossoms bloom, the parks turn green, and the air feels full of possibility.

For couples planning a proposal, spring is one of the most romantic times of the year in NYC. The soft light, the flowers, and the longer days create the perfect setting for a magical “Will you marry me?”

As a NYC proposal photographer who has captured hundreds of proposals, these are some of my favorite spring locations in the city — especially if you're hoping to catch those iconic cherry blossoms.

Central Park – Cherry Hill

Cherry Hill is one of the most beautiful spots in Central Park during spring. When the cherry blossoms bloom, the entire area turns into a pink dream.

You’ll also get a view of the lake and the famous Bow Bridge nearby, which makes the photos feel very cinematic.

Best time: early morning (less crowded) or golden hour

Bloom season: late March – early April (varies every year)

Central Park – Pilgrim Hill

If you’ve ever seen photos of Central Park completely covered in pink blossoms, chances are they were taken here.

Pilgrim Hill has one of the largest cherry blossom clusters in the park, and when they bloom it feels like stepping into another world.

This spot is perfect if you want dreamy, soft, romantic proposal photos.

Brooklyn Botanic Garden (Mi favorite)

If cherry blossoms are your dream proposal backdrop, this place is legendary.

The Cherry Esplanade and Japanese Hill-and-Pond Garden are two of the most romantic spots in NYC during spring.

Expect beautiful blossoms, quiet garden paths, and a peaceful atmosphere that feels very different from the busy city streets.

Bethesda Terrace & Fountain

This is one of the most iconic places in Central Park — and for good reason.

If you want skyline views with your proposal, Brooklyn Bridge Park is hard to beat.

Spring sunsets here are magical, with the Manhattan skyline glowing behind you and the breeze from the river.

A favorite spot is right in front of Jane’s Carousel.

Tips for a Perfect Spring Proposal in NYC

Check the bloom forecast – Cherry blossoms bloom for only about 1–2 weeks.

Plan for crowds – Cherry blossom season is popular. Early mornings are your best friend.

Bring a small bouquet or flowers – It looks amazing in photos and adds to the moment.

Hire a proposal photographer & Videographer – When the moment happens, adrenaline kicks in and you may barely remember it. Photos let you relive it forever.

How a Surprise Proposal Photoshoot Works

Once your proposal session is booked, the only thing left is to show up and let the magic happen.

As surprise proposal experts, we ask for a photo of the couple and the exact location for the day. This helps us track your arrival and avoid contacting you directly, keeping the surprise intact.

We usually arrive early at the location and pretend to photograph the scenery or other people nearby. When you arrive, we’ll recognize you — no need to search for us.

We’ll be ready when you kneel down and pop the question.

After the proposal, we’ll guide you through a few engagement photos at nearby spots, helping with poses and finding beautiful backgrounds.

Having photographed over 200 proposals, you’re in good hands — we’ve got you!

And of course, you’ll receive a sneak peek within 24 hours, because we know how excited you’ll be to see your photos.

xx,

Your favorite photographer
